Masonry and Render Painting
Rendered walls, pebbledash, and painted masonry need repainting every 8-12 years. We clean surfaces thoroughly, repair cracks and damage, apply stabilising solution where needed, and finish with quality masonry paint.
Woodwork Painting
Fascias, soffits, window frames, doors, and decorative timberwork. We sand, fill, prime, and apply multiple coats for lasting protection. Traditional oil-based or modern water-based paints to suit your preference.
Metal Painting
Railings, gates, downpipes, and metal windows. Proper preparation including rust treatment and primer ensures paint adhesion and prevents corrosion returning.
Why Preparation Matters
Paint is only as good as the surface beneath it. We spend considerable time on preparation:
Cleaning
Pressure washing removes dirt, algae, and loose material. This is essential – paint won't adhere to dirty surfaces.
Repairs
Cracks are opened, filled, and sanded. Damaged render is patched. Rotten wood is replaced. Painting over damage just hides problems temporarily.
Stabilising
Powdery or chalky surfaces receive stabilising solution that penetrates and binds loose material. Without this, new paint will peel.
Priming
Appropriate primers seal surfaces and provide a key for topcoats. Different primers for different substrates – we use the right product for each situation.
Quality Paints
We use premium paints from manufacturers including Dulux Trade, Sandtex, and Johnstone's. These cost more than budget alternatives but offer:

Colour Choice
We can match any colour you choose or advise on combinations that suit your property. For listed buildings or conservation areas, certain colours may be restricted – we can advise on what's permitted.
When To Paint
External painting needs dry conditions and temperatures above 10°C. In Charlestown, the main painting season is April to October. We schedule work around weather forecasts and won't paint in unsuitable conditions that compromise quality.
